Armies function best when commands are given from the top. The commander-in-chief and generals decide on strategy then instructions are passed down the line until everyone knows what to do and how to do it. Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of foot soldiers take action. No questions asked. Step out of line, stand up and say you don’t agree with the strategy, and you risk court-martial. This power structure works for war. It utterly fails with medicine and public health.
Yet that’s how public health is being run. At the top levels of U.S. Public Health it was decided decades ago that vaccine products were the preferred tool to prevent infectious disease, and that every effort must be made to preserve faith in the vaccination program, no matter what.
Federal Register in 1984 (vol 49, no 107): “. . . any possible doubts, whether or not well founded, about the safety of the vaccine cannot be allowed to exist in view of the need to assure that the vaccine will continue to be used to the maximum extent consistent with the nation’s public health objectives.”
Add the “regulatory vacuum” to this censoring of anything critical of vaccines, and you create a perfect storm of armies of those working in medicine and public health being taught that all vaccines are “safe and effective and necessary,” that vaccine injury is rare, and that anyone critical of vaccine products or policies is an antivaxxer and a threat.
So here we are, in a state where vaccines are not properly safety tested, problems with vaccines, their administration, and policies are not being updated according to proper science and surveillance, and children and adults are being sacrificed.
This must stop. How? We aren’t holding our breath that HHS, the CDC, and the FDA will suddenly apologize and begin to properly do their jobs. Public-private partnerships between government agencies and drug companies have created a vast network of corporate-captured health agencies and literally thousands of pro-vaccine groups marketing products.
The changes will come from individuals. One foot soldier at a time, standing up, speaking out, and saying “I dissent”; from doctors and nurses and journalists who decide it is time for them to BeBrave and stand with us. Vaccine Safety Reform will impact all aspects from design to administration, and the decision to use, or not use, the products will be placed where it rightfully belongs, with individuals.
